UPDATED January 26, 2015 for the
January 28, 2015 Therapy Tour
Wandering aimlessly throughout Peoria in search of another location that reminds us of our beloved (and no longer open) bar; the Wine Experience…
Dr. Larry’s Traveling Therapy Tour is held every Wednesday evening, starting at around 8:00 pm at…
Sky Harbor Steakhouse
1321 North Park Road
West Peoria, Illinois 61604
Sky Harbor is our official regular Therapy spot, with an alternate on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. You are always welcome and let them know that you are part of Dr. Larry’s Tour. The Klusendorf’s will be more than happy to accommodate your dining needs and will fill your drink requirements! You can show up earlier and stay later than the rest of us, but when the Clydsdales stop pulling the Budweiser cart you’ll have to go elsewhere!
Jimmy Binkley, beloved locally as a raspy jazz musician, but even more as a tireless friend to nursing homes, died Monday at a Peoria hospital. He was 91.
For months, Binkley had been struggling with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The day after Thanksgiving, as grand marshal in the annual Santa Claus Parade, he was supposed to lead the crowd in a televised singalong to his signature tune, “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.” But in the cold weather, his lungs prevented him from singing, so he just played piano.
After that, he made an appearance or two at his most recent haunt, Sky Harbor Steakhouse in West Peoria, where for several years he’d played every Wednesday and Saturday night. But his COPD worsened before Christmas, forcing him to stay home from work and eventually check into OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in January. His condition went up and down for the past two weeks, but he became unresponsive Sunday and died in his sleep Monday afternoon.
Condolences and prayers to his family and friends. His passing leaves a great void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Temporarily standing in for the late Jimmy Binkley is a former classmate of the Doctor; Bob Bishop!
Bob will be back at the Sky Harbor Piano on Saturday January 31.
Coming up on on the Last Thursday of the Month @ Sky Harbor

Coming up next week on the first Wednesday of the Month of February 2015 the travelers will be heading for another visit to Oliver's Pizza & Pub North. Oliver's Pizza and Pub has been a staple in Peoria Heights. Now, the pizzeria has a new location in North Peoria. The restaurant is located at 3300 W. Willow Knolls Drive, in a Cape Cod style house that previously was used as office space. The atmosphere inside is cozy, with a long bar to the right, and dining room seating to the left as you enter the front door. We’ll be at the bar. J
They have a good beer selection (Guinness? Not for sure.) and a few wines as well! Pizza, wings, burgers, sandwiches and desserts make for a bigger menu then they offer at the other Peoria Heights place that we have abandoned due to past bad experiences. Hopefully this will be the complete turnaround and true therapy of our recent visits.

Coming up on third Wednesday of the month of February 2015 the Traveling Therapy Tour will be going back to something completely different – Mango: Fondue & Lounge. This popular location just off of War Memorial Drive and snuggled in between the Red Roof Inn and Perkins has quite possibly found a niche. Several of our group were impressed with this during their first Tour in April 2014 and by golly Dr. Larry is up for something unusual once again.
They are only open until ten pm, but they’ll stay open a little longer – if we all promise to behave. Wednesdays are Wine Down Wednesdays (1/2 off Select Wine), they have several beers on tap and they have several food options that offer enough to please almost any appetite! So let’s Go Man Go to Mangos!
